Help CentreAlerts & Notifications

How alert logic works

Understanding when alerts fire helps you avoid unnecessary notifications and alert fatigue.

One alert per outage

Alive24x7 sends one alert when a monitor first goes DOWN. If the monitor continues to fail on subsequent checks, no additional down alerts are sent. You will only receive another alert when the monitor recovers (if recovery notifications are enabled) or if a new separate outage begins after a recovery.

The alert sequence

  1. Monitor check fails → status changes from UP to DOWN → down alert sent
  2. Monitor continues to fail → no additional alerts sent
  3. Monitor check succeeds → status changes from DOWN to UP → recovery alert sent (if enabled)
  4. If the monitor goes down again later, the cycle repeats from step 1

Maintenance windows suppress alerts

If a monitor has an active maintenance window, all alerts are suppressed — no email, Slack, or SMS is sent even if the check fails. Checks still run and results are still recorded in history. This is useful when you are doing planned maintenance and do not want false alarms.

Paused accounts

If your trial has expired or your subscription has lapsed, all monitors are paused. No checks run and no alerts are sent until you subscribe to a paid plan.
